Could you explain “marriage material”?

Someone can be described as ‘marriage material’ if he or she possesses the desirable qualities of a potential spouse. For instance, while on a first date, you might ask yourself, ‘Is he/she marriage material?’ Your answer can help you decide whether you want to continue to date this person. These days, the Internet is filled with sites offering questionnaires to determine whether your girlfriend or boyfriend is ‘marriage material.’ They ask about personality, financial security, work ethic, maturity level, etc. But determining whether someone is ‘marriage material’ is very subjective and personal.
