Bangladesh Barisal power station project gets government guarantee

Barisal Electric Power Company Limited and the government of Bangladesh formally signed the government guarantee for the Barisal 307 MW coal-fired power station project on Dec 23, providing strong support for project financing and a solid guarantee for the operation of the project.

The project is being constructed by POWERCHINA Resources Ltd, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA.

At the signing ceremony, the project manager expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of Bangladesh and other ministries and commissions for their long-term support. The project manager also shared the hope that all parties would continue to provide support to promote better and faster development of the project.

Bangladesh's representatives praised POWERCHINA Resources Ltd and Barisal Electric Power Company Limited for their scientific organization and meticulous construction practices during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also, they expressed their confidence that the project will be put into production on schedule.

The rapid progress of the project will further deepen and consolidate the traditional friendship between China and Bangladesh.

It will also profoundly influence Bangladesh, adjusting its power and energy structure, alleviating the contradiction between supply and demand, optimizing the investment environment, promoting infrastructure construction, population employment and improving people's livelihoods.
