POWERCHINA strives to resume work in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has become one of the countries most severely affected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic since the beginning of this year. The resumption of work and production of POWERCHINA's Barisal Power Station Project in the country faced a number of barriers due to local epidemic control measures and policies.

The project department has paid close attention to the local COVID-19 epidemic situation, actively helping employees return to work while overcoming the difficulties of work resumption.

On Sept 30, the first 12 staff members of the company gave up the opportunity to reunite with their families and embarked on the journey of returning to work. On Oct 14 and 21, another two batches of 40 employees set off for Bangladesh. To date, the Barisal project has officially sounded the clarion call to fight the COVID-19 epidemic and resume work.

On Oct 19, the project site was caught in the biggest rainstorm since the start of construction, which posed a major threat to the safety of the project's encampment and equipment. Through the concerted efforts of workers, flood control and rescue work was successfully achieved to create a preliminary victory.
