DAMASCUS - Three explosive devices went off in the central city of Hama Friday without casualties as a law- enforcement member was injured by armed groups also in Hama, the private Sham FM radio reported.

Armed groups opened fire in different areas of Hama without injuries so far.

The report said anti-government protests erupted in several northern areas including Idlib and its suburbs and Jabal al-Zawiya region.

In the unrest-strewn Homs, several protests broke out across Homs as gunmen opened fire in some areas there.

The private al-Watan newspaper said Thursday that armed groups had forced a general strike in Homs and Hama on Wednesday.

However, the pan-Arab al-Jazeera cited witnesses as saying that about 11 people were killed Friday by security forces in Syria, including nine in Hama and another two in Homs. It aired shaky amateur videos picturing anti-government rallies in different areas across Syria, flashing banners urging international intervention and no-fly zone over Syria.

Meanwhile, Syria's state-TV broadcasted live footage of different areas across Syria with normal weekend atmosphere.

The conflicting information couldn't be verified as journalists are banned of independently heading to restive areas.

The protests have continued unabated for more than seven months with mounting calls for the downfall of Syrian government. Syrian government, however, blamed the unrest on armed groups and thugs acting out a foreign conspiracy, citing the killing of more than 1, 000 army personnel during the turmoil.

The United Nations estimates that more than 3,000 people have been killed over the past seven months.
