Silk Road journeys in Jiangsu

At the Town of Three Kingdoms in Wuxi, watch the beautiful sceneries of lakes and hills by an ancient battleship on the Taihu Lake, or live shows adapted from stories in the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Originated from the site of the Yongtai Silk Factory set up by local business tycoon Xue Nanmin (1862-1918), the China Silk Industry Museum in Wuxi near the Grand Canal is a witness of the city’s prosperous silk business in history. In the 1930s, Wuxi's reputation as "capital of silk" was justified for the output, quality and export value of silk and ranked first among other cities in China. In 1964, the "Jinshuanglu" (Gold Double Deer) raw silk produced by Yongtai got a gold medal at the New York World's Fair, becoming a popular product in the global market. The Xihui Park in Wuxi got its name for its location at the foot of Xishan Hill and Huishan Hill. The Qing Dynasty Emperor Qianlong visited the park every time he took inspection tours to the regions south of Yangtze River. The Huishan Spring in it has been famous across dynasties since the Dang Dynasty tea saint Lu Yu used to call it the "No 2 Spring in China". The spring is also famous for the blind folk musician A Bing created the classical song "The Moon Over a Fountain" beside it. [Photo/wuxinews.com.cn]
