On February 23, engineering workers ultimately completed the concreting of the first valve chamber wall for Qatar Mega Reservoir Package E after 17-hours nonstop efforts.
In order to speed rush of progress relying on the golden construction season, the leaders of the Project Management Division instructed workers to commence the placement of the first valve chamber wall on the evening of February 22. Coincidentally, it was Lantern Festival on the day in China when people should gather together with their families. However, all constructors of the Project decisively chose to stick to the front line of wall concreting at the price of being absent from reunion, considering the benefits of the Project. Through their continuous endeavor day and night, they completed the placement of reinforced concrete for the first valve chamber wall.
The valve chamber wall concreted was 6.8m in height with the concrete volume up to 449m3 in weight. The successful fulfillment of the first valve chamber wall's reinforced concrete placement has not only accumulated valuable experience for subsequent tasks, but also laid a solid foundation for the smooth processing to next construction stage as scheduled.
