Gu Shuzhong

Research fellow and Vice-Director-General of Research Institute for Resources and Environment Policies, Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC)

He graduated from China Agricultural University with a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Economy in 1984, a Master's Degree in Agricultural Economic Management in 1987, and a Doctor's Degree in Economy in 1994.

He was an assistant research fellow in Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences from Feb. 1994 to Feb. 1996. From Feb. 1996 to Dec. 1999, he was respectively an assistant research fellow, associate research fellow, research fellow, Deputy Director and Director of research office, assistant to Head of Integrated Natural Resource Survey Commission, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). From Jan. 2000 to May 2010, he was a research fellow, tutor of PhD candidates, academic committee member, Director of Research Office and Deputy Director of Research Center, Geographic Sciences and Natural Resource Institute of CAS From 2010-present, he is the Deputy Director-General and research fellow of Research Institute for Resources and Environment Policies of the Development and Research Center of the State Council (DRC).

He is concurrently tutor of PhD candidates of Research Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources of CAS and the Graduate School of CAS, Vice Chairman of Chinese Society of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning, the Executive Director of China Society of Territorial Economists, the Executive Director of National Economic Geography Society, the Director of China Society of Natural Resources, and Head of Policy Research Committee as well as Deputy Director of Professional Committee for Economy and Planning of Chinese Economics of Geology and Mineral Resources Society. His research fields mainly include resource economy, resource security and policies, regional economy and policies.
