“母親·天堂”——很不愿涉足的傷感話題。只是，生老病死是人之常理，唯有的心愿是——面對時，我們不要心存遺憾，不要事后悔恨，更不要說：I never appreciated my mother until it was too late to tell her… “Mama you sweet”選自美國鄉村民謠歌手Lucinda Williams的最新專輯“West”（2007年發行）。整張專輯彌漫著化不開的憂傷，而專輯中多首曲子的創作靈感來源于Lucinda媽媽的逝世。“Mama you sweet”就是這么一首悼念亡母的布魯斯民謠。 就歌詞而言，“Mama you sweet”頗有意象派詩歌的味道。歌手通過海洋的洶涌（heavy ocean）、雙唇的干裂（cracks on my lips）、心頭的傷口（scars in my heart）等具體意象刻畫了失去母親的無限傷悲，這傷悲如此洶涌可以讓堅墻轟然倒塌（pain hits a wall），這傷悲如此躁動以至找不到疏通的缺口（not know which way to go）…… 從音樂的角度來賞析，歌曲簡單明快的旋律、質樸硬朗的吉他，歌手粗糙的嗓音、不加掩飾的抒情，均與歌詞的意境達到了完美的統一。 聽著這首歌，心頭郁積的是傷感、傷感之外是感動，而在感動之間卻享受著屬于傷感的愜意。
