妙詞佳句，活學(xué)活用
1. be out of town
這個(gè)短語如果直譯的話，應(yīng)為“出城”，但是總覺得有些牽強(qiáng)。那么正確的用法如何呢？通常情況下，當(dāng)我們提到be out of town 的時(shí)候指的是“出差”，和be on business 的意思差不多。E.g. Where is your father? Well, he's out of town.
2. My machine eats all my messages.
這是一句講電話留言機(jī)的話。在這句話中用得最好的詞就是eat了，意思是“我的留言機(jī)把我所有的留言都吞掉了”。現(xiàn)在大家知道“吞”就是eat了吧。設(shè)想在取錢的時(shí)候，一不小心卡被吞了，這時(shí)就可以說 The machine eats my card.
