3,000 Chinese nationals evacuated from Iran amid tensions, Foreign Ministry says
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Monday that as of March 2, Beijing time, more than 3,000 Chinese nationals have been evacuated from Iran.
Chinese embassies and consulates in the countries neighboring Iran have dispatched working groups to border ports to assist Chinese citizens leaving Iran, she said at a regular press briefing.
Given the severe security situation in Iran, she once again solemnly reminds Chinese nationals there to strengthen personal safety precautions and evacuate as soon as possible.
Those in need of assistance may contact Chinese embassies and consulates in Iran or call the 12308 consular protection hotline, she said.
According to Mao, a Chinese citizen in Tehran was recently caught in the crossfire of the military conflict and, unfortunately, lost his life.
China expresses condolences over the death and extends sympathies to the bereaved family, she said, adding that the Foreign Ministry has instructed the Chinese embassy in Iran to provide assistance to those involved and their family members.
