Fuxing Island to host 2025 Shanghai Urban Space Art Season
The 2025 Shanghai Urban Space Art Season will take place from Sept 30 to Dec 13, the municipality announced on Thursday afternoon.
This year's main venue will be Fuxing Island, which is located in the heart of the waterfront area in Yangpu district.
The theme of this year's art season will be Quantum Revive, an exploration of the application of artificial intelligence in urban governance through the deep integration of technology, art and urban space, according to Wang Weiren, deputy secretary-general of Shanghai's municipal government.
The main exhibition on Fuxing Island will feature spatial constructions, artistic installations and high-tech exhibitions centered on the Shipyard Park area.
A highlight of the exhibition will be Quantum City, a futuristic vision of AI-enabled smart urban governance.
Artistic designs will be integrated into urban renewal to create new spaces while retaining the rich industrial heritage of the area.
The art season will collaborate with cultural and lifestyle initiatives such as the Shanghai Tourism Festival, the second Shanghai International Light Festival, and the video-sharing platform bilibili.com to introduce colorful events to the area.
Artists and designers from home and abroad will be invited to create on-site and transform the exhibition area into a popular leisure destination for citizens.
