The 2023 China Family Sailing Race-Shanghai starts

Shanghai Jinshan City Beach was flooded with sails and colorful flags on Sunday as the 2023 China Family Sailing Race-Shanghai set sails. A total of 122 competitors from 51 families competed over two days on 20 Hobie T1, 22 Hobie T2, and 9 Hobie Getaway catamarans, enjoying the pleasure of sailing in the wind and contributing to the exchange of water sports culture in Shanghai and around the entire Yangtze River Delta region.

The China Family Sailing Race was held in Shanghai for the third time when the Family Sailing Race visited Jinshan City Beach many times.

Liu Weidong, vice-chairman of the Chinese Yachting Association, said the participation enthusiasm and level of play during the Shanghai race fully displayed that the Family Sailing Race has reached new highs.

The scale of the race and the excellent organization also showed that Jinshan city Beach is very suitable for ocean racing, Liu added.

Many of the competing fleets are race veterans who have competed in the event numerous times.

"This is the third time we have participated in the race in Shanghai, the race is all about participation and meeting old friends, the competition comes second," said the captain of the Wave Team.

"The atmosphere of the Shanghai race is very good, with many activities and entertainment programs. The atmosphere of the sailors' night is sufficient to attract a group of sailing enthusiasts in the Yangtze River Delta region," said the captain of the Windjammer team. "Furthermore, this tournament is very flexible to the level and age of the competitors; even newbies can learn and get on the course in a very short period of time through training, which considerably increases people's enthusiasm."
