BEIJING -- Tianjin Jinmen Tigers defender Yu Yang has been banned for four games after he physically assaulted an opposition player in a Chinese Super League game.
Yu was expelled in the stoppage time of the Tianjin side's 1-0 loss at Shandong Taishan last Friday following a scuffle erupted among the players.
"After the referee blew whistle to halt the play, the number five player of Tianjin Jinmen Tigers Yu Yang misbehaved by holding an opposition player by the throat. The referee then showed him a red card and sent him off," the Chinese Football Association said in a statement.
Yu was also fined 40,000 yuan, the Chinese football governing body added.
