Wang crowned in China Bowling Tour Shenyang Open

The Shenyang Open of 2023 China Bowling Tour (CBT) ended in Shenyang Tiger Bowling Alley on Sunday night with Wang Hongbo, a Guangdong player, beating Sichuan player Zhang Min 2 frames to 1 in the final through his consistent and steady performance.

The tour is a brand-new series event, hosted by the Multi-ball Games Administrative Centre of the General Administration of Sport (MGAC) and Chinese Bowling Association (CBA). The launch of CBT marks the great-leap forward development of the game in China.

The Shenyang Open is the second leg of 2023 CBT. He Fengxiang, director-general of the MGAC and president of the CBA, said that the event adheres to the revitalization of bowling with the Chinese Tour, and is committed to actively integrating bowling into the national fitness strategy.

After three blocks of competition, Wang Aigang, a Beijing player, outplayed all players in the Spinner Group with 1469 points. Wang Zhiyong, a Liaoning local player, topped the Hook Group with 1438 points. In the semifinal of the match play, Zhang Min, a Sichuan player, defeated Li Yuyang, a local two handed hook young man, in a 2-0 victory to get the final ticket while Wang Hongbo fended off the strong challenge from Guizhou player Liu Dong for a 2-0 win.

In the final, Wang Hongbo was at a disadvantage in the beginning, but as the competition progressed, he gradually found his game for victory in Shenyang, capital of China's Northeast Liaoning province. "I'm very excited to win the championship. The China Tour has helped promote the development of bowling. I hope it will be held in more places across the country so that players can meet and communicate with each other more often."

During the event, the organizing committee also organized bowling carnival activities, making the sport accessible to the general public for a better understanding of bowling culture and the joy which bowling brings about.

The third leg of the tour will be held in Hefei, Anhui province from August 23 to27.
