Xi praises Macao's progress
SAR serves motherland by cultivating connections with other countries
President Xi Jinping praised Macao on Thursday for serving the needs of the motherland, using its strength to build a business cooperation platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
He made the remark while inspecting the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform Complex in Macao's Nam Van lake area.
Accompanied by Chui Sai-on, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Xi listened to a briefing about the complex and viewed a display of a variety of products from Portuguese-speaking countries.
Xi affirmed the progress made by Macao in promoting construction of the commercial and trade service platform for China and Portuguese-speaking countries since the return of Macao, saying that he was delighted that it has become a solid entity.
