Nation leading through moral strength

China's transformation from a poor agrarian economy into one of the top economies in the world is nothing short of a miracle. The country, which started its journey from scratch, is leading through its moral strength and social governance.

China's reforms have completely overhauled its economy, urbanized society and improved living standards. The nation has entered a new era with a massive plan for turning into a modern socialist country.

As the second revolution of modern China, reform and opening-up have profoundly changed the country and greatly influenced the world. China has not only developed itself, but has also contributed to global well-being.

Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China is striving to build a modern economic system, deepen supply-side structural reforms and speed up the innovation-driven development strategy.

Modern China has taken several measures, including broadening market access, creating a more attractive investment environment, strengthening protection of intellectual property rights and expanding imports.

The Belt and Road Initiative, proposed by President Xi in 2013, is a momentous step by China to expand opening-up and external cooperation. This initiative envisions linking China's economy with the rest of the world.

In Pakistan, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is considered a game-changer that will bring economic stability to the country and generate employment, especially for skilled young people.

The modern period of China has seen its transformation from empire to nation, its dramatic encounters with the era of imperialism, the rise of alternative models for modern China, and the prospects for Chinese leadership in the 21st century.

The philosopher Confucius has become something of a Chinese brand. The country has opened hundreds of schools worldwide bearing his name to teach Chinese culture and language.

Confucianism, with its core concepts of harmony with diversity and seeking common ground despite differences, is at the heart of what has made China the soft power in Asia for centuries.

Even countries like Japan, the Republic of Korea and Vietnam have willingly adopted Confucian culture, art and literature.

Confucius' message is clear: "Lead by moral authority, not force. Keep your own house in order, and others will follow your example."

China is clearly following this model, and the country is now even more influential because of its booming economy, diplomacy and cultural ties around the world.

Meanwhile, China-Pakistan diplomatic relations have entered their 68th year.

It is now time to look at education and culture. Chinese universities should attract Pakistani students, and they should establish their institutions in Pakistan's cities. Similarly, Chinese cultural and language centers should be established in Pakistan.
