Gin festival returns to city

Asia's premiere gin festival, Gin Jubilee, is returning to Shanghai for the second time in a row.

The four-day event, which kicks off on Oct 17, will feature an exclusive Gin & Tonic menu that is available at its 12 partner establishments in the city. These places include Cobra Lily, Sober Company, the Clubroom at the recently opened Shanghai EDITION hotel on the Bund.

To conclude the event, a Gin Lane party will be taking place on the last night at the Shanghai EDITION hotel's rooftop garden. Bartenders from the 12 bars and restaurants will be serving up refreshing gin-based beverages in biodegradable cups and straws, in keeping with the festival's drive to minimize waste.

Created six years ago in Singapore by mixer brand East Imperial, the festival has grown to be one of the most anticipated annual carnivals for gin lovers across Asia, having expanded to cities like Hong Kong, Kuala Lumper, Beijing and Shenzhen. The Gin Jubilee also offers programs ranging from master classes, sipping events and creativity competitions.

Introduced to Shanghai in 2017, the event has attracted thousands of consumers and a host of high-profile mixologists in town. Tickets to the Gin Lane party this year will be sold at 100 yuan ($16) and are available on the festival's official website.
