Chinese company helps repair damage to Athi River Bridge in Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya -- Torrential rains have caused unusual flooding in parts of Nairobi, capital of Kenya, resulting in interruptions in transport and other services.

On Thursday afternoon, the Stoni Athi River near the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport burst its banks, destroying the bridge and cutting off traffic on the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway, a trunk road for Kenya and neighboring countries, and flooding the nearby Green Park Estate.

China Railway 21st Bureau Group of China Railway Construction Corporation，which is constructing the Second Carriageway from Athi River to Machakos, volunteered their trucks and equipment to help restore the bridge and allow traffic. The team carried out emergency repairs to the bridge to help the road reopen to traffic at 12:10 am the following day, after five and a half hours of rescue work.

The company has partnered in many projects across the nation.
