China appreciates Russia's support in building excellent relations

China highly appreciates Russia's active support for the development of the China-Russia relationship, Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said on Friday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin gave his annual state of the nation address on Thursday, in which he described China-Russia relations as being "one of the key factors in ensuring global and regional stability. It serves as a model of international relations."

This model of relations can reshape a world order free from the idea of one country's dominance, and taking into account the interests of all states in harmony, Putin said.

"At the moment, the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership is at an all time high," Geng said at a daily press conference in Beijing.

Both sides have upheld the generational friendship established by the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation, he added.

China and Russia have perceived each other as a diplomatic priority and crucial development opportunity, Geng said.

The two countries resolutely supported each other on issues regarding the two nations' core interests, set a new model of state relations characterized by mutual cooperation and trust on an equal footing, and contributed to regional and international peace, security and development, he continued.

"China is willing to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, expand and deepen cooperation in various fields, and inject positive energy into the prosperity of the two nations and maintain regional and international peace, security and stability," Geng said.
