Locking lips is fine, but no locking locks, says Paris

A TV journalist reports in front of the warning board on Pont Neuf that says "our bridge can't bear your love anymore, please stop locking", August 3, Paris. Leaving concentric lock on the bridge is popular among lovers who travel to the River Seine in Paris to symbolize their undying love. With time, however, the growing number of locks have become too heavy for the old bridge to carry. As a result, the Paris government tore down the locks weighing 45 tons in total on the Pont des Arts to protect the historical site. Its guardrail has been replaced by an organic glass as well. Nevertheless, not all lovers have heeded the request. Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge of Paris with more than 400 years history, has now become the new spot.
