Upcoming two meetings to bring double harvests for China

Beginning from Saturday, Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Turkey to attend the tenth summit of the Group of Twenty (G20) on Nov 14-16, and then to the Philippines for the 23rd Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) informal leaders' meeting on Nov 17-19.

Xi will embark on a busy and fruitful agenda, to take Beijing's diplomacy to new heights.

The G20 and APEC will focus on the economy, with the former facing the whole world, while the latter zooming in on the Asia-Pacific region. Both are important mechanisms for the global economic governance system.

The world economic recovery remains fragile and complex, while global economic governance reform is progressing, but with difficulties. China's economic growth remains at 6.9 percent, which is still the world's fastest growing economy, continues to drive the world economy.

This year, the Asia-Pacific and the world economy have undergone many changes. The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement was reached this October, and the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will be in operation by the end of the year.

Beijing upholds mutually beneficial development for regional cooperation. During the G20 summit in Turkey, participating leaders will put forward their views to explore cooperation, and how to evaluate the world economy.

As the world's second largest economy, China plans to introduce its comprehensive reform to build a new open economy, combining Beijing's "Thirteenth Five-Year" Plan (2016-20). China can use its voice to bring confidence to the world.

Last year's Beijing APEC meeting had laid a foundation for closer regional cooperation among Asia-Pacific nations. The pace of the Asia-Pacific economic cooperation was firmer, and had enjoyed wider participation of related parties.

It's time to deepen the outcome of the APEC meeting held in Beijing last year. Leaders will seek common development to enhance Asia-Pacific regional cooperation and economic governance.

The two meetings will function as a platform for the multilateral arena, and bilateral contacts. President Xi Jinping is expected to have bilateral meetings with heads of state.

The world will be watching the APEC meeting: Whether the host, the Philippines, will hype up the South China Sea issue. The Philippines remains commited not to lose the trust of the international community.
