2 NATO soldiers killed in S Afghanistan

KABUL:Two soldiers of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the NATO-led peacekeeping force, were killed in Afghanistan's militancy-hit southern region, said a press release of the troops issued here Tuesday.

"Two International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service members were killed on July 13 as a result of a hostile incident in southern Afghanistan," the press release said.

However, it did not mention the exact place of the incident, neither the nationality of the soldiers, adding that it is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.

Since launching a massive operation against Taliban militants in Helmand province on July 2, the number of foreign forces fatalities begun surging as over a dozen NATO- and US-led forces service members have lost their lives so far.

Just on Tuesday morning, a helicopter crashed in Sangin district of Helmand province. Taliban militants claimed responsibility and the officials have ruled out the involvement of hostile fire in the incident.
