Urumqi's Grand Bazaar reopened to tourists on Wendesday morning. The bazaar is a major tourist attraction in the city, but it was a focal point of the riot in July 5th.
Locals say reopening to tourists is an important symbol that security has improved in the city.
Peole here say that if you haven't made it to the Grand Bazaar, you havn't been to Urumqi. The Bazaar is a great place to find raisin, rugs and other souvenirs, but it was forced to a close after the July 5 riots. Visitors are eager to satisfy their shopping desire.
Zhang Lanyue, Visitor, said, "I like the sourveniors here, you can find local specialities. I've already bought some things. "
It's also good for the traders. After more than two weeks, now it's time to make money, again.
