A 30-year-old woman jumped into a lake, because her husband refused to buy her a handbag and started a fight in Dezhou of East China's Shandong province, iqilu.com reported on Sunday.

The woman, whose name has not been revealed, turned a blind eye to the lifebuoy offered by the police and even the appeals of the passersby failed to convince her, before her angry husband dived into the water and started beating her instead of saving her life.

According to the report, the woman claimed that she often suffered domestic abuse and thought of suicide this time after her husband beat her on the street.
