          Man detained for cursing police online

          A 21-year-old man in Jining city of Shandong province was detained for three days for cursing transportation police online, Southern Metropolis Daily reported on Wednesday.

          In a post to publish this case, police in Yanzhou district said on its official Sina Weibo account that "one should not take anonymous remarks online for granted, and justice has long arms". The post drew heated discussion, as some web users question which provision or law this man offended. The post was deleted later.

          Man sues Big Yao for deceptive advertising

          Former NBA star Yao Ming is being sued by Beijing resident Feng Changshun for endorsing a health food product that Feng said misleads consumers, in one of the first consumer rights cases involving a celebrity since a new protection law was enacted in March.

          Feng is suing Baxsun Pharmacy, a retail chain in Beijing, for exaggerating the benefits of its fish oil capsules.

          Yao, a spokesman for the product, is also being sued. Beijing's Xicheng district court has confirmed that it will hear the case.

          Ran Wenxian, a 89-year-old woman, married Zou Kaixin, 66, in Jiasi town, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, on Tuesday, Chongqing Morning Post reported. The couple met at a nursing home in 2013 and Zou has been taking care of Ran, who has problems with her foot.

          More than 1.6 million yuan ($256,900) in cash was switched to counterfeit bills at a bank in Bijie, Southwest China's Guizhou province, China Central Television reported on Tuesday. The suspect is a bank employee, according to monitoring records.

          A court said on Tuesday that it has upheld the death sentence, with a two-year reprieve, for a businesswoman over a financial fraud. The Jiangsu High People's Court dismissed Gu Chunfang's appeal for leniency, and upheld the first verdict by Suzhou Intermediate People's Court in October. The 42-year-old businesswoman was charged with financial fraud involving 1.7 billion yuan ($273 million).

          A court confirmed on Tuesday that it had filed a case alleging that a well-known Chinese singer allowed other people to use drugs at his temporary home. Beijing Chaoyang District People's Court said it has started an investigation. Li Daimo, the singer who rose to fame on the popular television talent show The Voice of China, was arrested by police on March 18.

          Shenzhen police apprehended a 12-member gang engaged in marriage fraud. Also captured were two vehicles and 40 cell phones, Nanfang Metropolis Daily reported on Tuesday. The gang rented a villa in Danshui, a town in Huizhou, where gang members were trained, the report said. Members passed themselves off as rich widows looking for husbands. More than 20 victims, from Shenzhen, Shanghai and Xiamen, were taken in, the police said.

          Police in Hefei say a doctor buried a patient who died under his care, People's Daily reported on Tuesday. The doctor, surnamed Li, who ran a private clinic, treated Liu Yeqing, 53, at the clinic on March 31, and Liu fainted and died during the treatment. Police arrested Li on May 9 after an investigation.
