The value of RMB has sharply decreased in the past eight years due to serious inflation, according to China Youth Daily.
For example, rice was 3.8 yuan per kg in 2005, but now it costs 6.6 yuan, which means the purchasing power of 1,000 yuan today is equivalent to 576 yuan eight years ago, the report said.
