Universiade venues will be enclosed with movable fences from July 12, a month ahead of the opening of the Games.

The fences, which are about 2 meters high, are among measures taken by police to ensure the safety of the Universiade.

Universiade security would be assured by a four-tier control, similar to controls imposed during the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the Shanghai World Expo last year.

During the Games, in outer areas called traffic guidance areas, vehicles and passengers must obey traffic police; vehicles entering traffic-control areas must have permits; in the security enclosure, also called a red line area, visitors need to pass security checks and security guards will be stationed every 100 meters with police officers on patrol; and only authorized personnel are allowed into the inner area.

At Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, the opening ceremony venue, police will open Haide Road 3 after the opening ceremony.

The main venues at Longgang Sports Center will also be enclosed with a 5-km fence. According to He Yechi, head of the Universiade Town Police Station, the northern section of Longxing Boulevard will be closed. But Longxiang Boulevard and Huangge Road will remain open to minimize the impact on commuters.

The Universiade security team would follow international practice by appointing one director and eight security managers at each venue.

Disabled persons can enter the venues through VIP entrances.
