Chris Paul is still a member of the New Orleans Hornets. The Los Angeles Clippers became the latest team to back off, turning down a proposed trade involving Paul because the asking price was too high. The package reportedly included center Chris Kaman, reserve guard Eric Bledsoe, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and their No. 1 pick in the 2012 draft.

The Clippers made two other moves instead, claiming five-time all-star Chauncey Billups off waivers and re-signing center DeAndre Jordan. The Clippers got Jordan back after matching an offer sheet from Golden State.

Dwight Howard's relationship with the Orlando Magic appears to be improving. CEO Alex Martins sat down with the all-star center, who asked to be traded. Martins said he remains confident he can convince Howard that Orlando can build a championship team.

The Detroit Pistons finalized what has been a formality, cutting ties with three-time all-star Richard Hamilton. Both sides agreed to terms of a buyout.
