Siming Sports Fashion Season kicks off

A press conference for the annual Siming Sports Fashion Season was held in Xiamen's Siming district on Tuesday. The theme of this year's event is "Appreciating Fashionable Sports, Enjoying the Beauty of Siming".

In the next two months more than 20 competitions of different kinds will be held. The event is expected to boost the sustainable development of the local sports industry, promote national fitness, stimulate sports consumption and create a fashionable sports atmosphere.

Shen Ping, deputy head of the people's government of Siming district, said at the press conference that as the two previous Siming Sports Fashion Seasons were held successfully, this year's event will fully integrate all resources and launch five national-level competitions.

Through the holding of various new activities it will promote integrated development of the sports and tourism industries.

She hoped that the Sports Fashion Season will further promote the transformation of local industrial structure.

Wang Dawei, vice chairman of the Chinese Archery Association, issued the "Chinese Archery Association Mass Sports Level Standard Management Measures" and the "Chinese Archery Association Mass Sports Level Qualifying Competition Organization and Certification Measures" at the press conference, aiming to encourage the public to take up archery and to participate in qualifying competitions.

In addition, the association will further promote the development of mass archery by standardizing the evaluation system, organizing the competitions and regulating the standards of the events.

The Xiamen Archery Classic and the first China Archery Association Certified Qualifying Competition are the first national-level competitions included in the Sports Fashion eason.

The competition will run from Jan 9 to 10, and will play a positive role in popularizing archery. With that goal in sight it won't set a threshold for participation. Compared with other competitions of the same type, it will be a milestone for increasing the sport’s appeal.

The AMOY50 Xiamen (Siming) Urban Cross-country Race is the first of its kind in China to be held in the city center. The race will be held in Dongping Mountain, which is the core area of Xiamen Island. The registration work started on Dec 19.

A number of youth competitions will be held during the Sports Fashion Season, such as the National Children's Potential Competition, the third Night Parent-Child Orientation Challenge, the Fujian Youth Tennis Ranking Tournament and the 2020 YONEX Fujian Youth Badminton Tour, which aim to encourage young people to take exercise.

Another part of the Sports Fashion Season will be the "National Sports Association 2021 Event Promotion Conference", to be held in cooperation with the State Sports General Administration. A total of 26 national sports associations and promotion committees will participate in the event.

The conference will promote 133 projects involving more than 700 competitions, with the promotion funds exceeding 1 billion yuan ($153 million). Individual national-level sports associations and high-quality sports industry companies will be invited to promote themselves and seek cooperation with each other.

Siming district is rich in tourism resources, and has unique advantages in the vigorous development of national fitness. This year's Sports Fashion Season will dig deep into Siming's advantageous locations and integrate its resources of sports, tourism and cultural industries.

Siming will also create a number of sports and tourism products with local characteristics, such as the 2021 Xiamen C&D Marathon breakfast run and the "GO Siming-Move Colors" warm winter rhythm holiday festival. The efforts will further promote the integration of sports and tourism while realizing great development in the sports industry.

In the future, Siming will take Sports Fashion Season as a platform to drive the development of surrounding scenic spots, tourism, catering, leisure and accommodation.

It will build the event into a new driving force for the integration and development of the sports tourism industry and a new highland for regional tourism.
