Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, and Chongqing municipality in Southwest China are currently strengthening cooperation, especially in building international comprehensive transport hubs, advanced manufacturing clusters, the Western (Chongqing) Science City, western financial centers, and modern metropolises, with the to-do lists of the governments of the two regions becoming more clear, according to news reports on June 27 by Chongqing Daily.

Chongqing and Chengdu are cooperating in air, land and sea transportation. From January to May this year, the tourist throughput of The Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport ranked second and third in China respectively, with their cargo throughput remaining among the top 10 in the nation.

Through both online and on-site channels, more than 300 auto spare part manufacturers have established partnerships with auto makers in the two regions. Following the low-carbon trend, Chengdu and Chongqing have been investing more in electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell cars.

On June 25, the first batch of construction projects of the Western (Chongqing) Science City concluded, and in March, the two regions launched pilot zones for external debt facilitation.

In addition, Chengdu and Chongqing have further integrated their businesses in real assets, insurance, provident funds, healthcare, bonds, culture and tourism. By 2023, the two regions plan to share resources within 86 public libraries.
