There will be a Dynamic Macao Week in the city of Guiyang, Guizhou province, beginning July 12 and running through July 14, a recent press release announced, to give the people of Guiyang a taste of Macao's richness and colorful culture.

Even more important, perhaps, is the chance to attract more Macao investment and promote trade between two, according to He Haiming, deputy director of the "Dynamic Macao" committee, who explained that there will be investment promotion events, such as Guizhou-Macao business matchmaking and an investment conference involving Guizhou, Macao, and Portuguese-speaking countries to promote business and trade relations.

Companies in Guizhou will have an opportunity to exchange ideas on economic development and trade with people from Portuguese-speaking nations a discuss plans for future cooperation.

Wu Bing, the vice-president of Guizhou's investment promotion bureau, commented that Macao is trying to develop into an international tourism and leisure center, and Guizhou has the same idea, so their cultures and shared prospects mean great possibilities for cooperation, especially in tourism.

Wu added that Macao Week will open doors for Guizhou companies to expand their business to Macao markets and beyond.

Another noteworthy event is the Guizhou-Macao Chinese Medicine Symposium taking place the same week. And, since Guizhou province is one of China's four major Chinese medicine producers, it is sure to provide a great place for discussing Guizhou's future development of the Chinese medicine business.
