Artist Background

The exhibition presents the Chinese ink artist Ji Dahai who is also the Chinese poet and calligrapher. His paintings and calligraphy poems have been published in a book in France in November 2006. The artist revisits the landscapes of Province through his Chinese eyes. This new look opens the dialogue between the two cultures.

Ji Dahai studied French language and French civilization for 10 years between 1980 and 1990. He comes from the prestigious school WaiFu created by ex-premier Zhou Enlai and the University of Foreign Languages in Beijing. His career is an evidence of a strong attachment to its own culture. Following the tradition of Chinese literature, Ji Dahai perpetuates the art of calligraphy and the traditional Chinese painting that has been transmitted by a great master. Living in France for several years, he is the author of two books which tend to bring our two cultures through the expression of beauty. He presents to the public with a region of France famous for its living, art and landscapes.
