Yuanda becomes leading curtain wall producer

Yuanda Group won the bid of the project of the Russian Federation Tower, the "highest building in Europe", which?was?an opportunity for Yuanda Group to be in line with the international standards for manufacturing curtain walls.?

On September 25, 2005, Yuanda Group signed the contract to join in the construction of the Russian Federation Tower, the "highest building in Europe". The total value of the contract reached $50 million. Since it is an important project, many famous enterprises in the same business such as GARTNER and Schüco from Germany participated in the bid of the project. It is a complicated project with many technical difficulties, but the project group finally saw success and signed the contract after working hard to overcome all the difficulties.

The Russian Federation Tower is located the No.13 Block of Krasnopresnenskaya along the Moscow River. The project includes a multi-functional office building and a comprehensive residential building. The whole project includes two towers: Tower A and Tower B. Between the two towers are a flagpole-shape sightseeing lift and the podium that connects the Tower A and Tower B. The main tower is of a height of 430m and is recognized as the tallest tower among contemporary buildings in progress in Europe. Tower A is of a height of 340m, with 85 floors. It will be used as the office and residential building. Tower B is of a height of 236.2m, with 53 floors. Floors 5 to 30 and 32 to 43 will be used for office and residences, and Floors 45 to 56 will be used as a hotel. The fa?ade of the building will see the integration of glass and aluminum plate unitized curtain walls, which make the buildings seem delicate and well assembled. The horizontal and vertical metal decorated gusset plates make the building look more fashionable and full of complicated techniques. The products provided by Shenyang Yuanda Enterprise Group under the contract include unitized adiabatic glass curtain wall, unitized adiabatic aluminum plate curtain wall, aluminum alloy shutter, glass roof, curtain wall at entrances and revolving door, totally covering an area of 110,000 m2.

The curtain wall of the building is complicated, and it is technically challenging. The requirements for both design and construction reflect the most advanced international manufacture level of curtain wall. As required by the owner of Russia, the external surface of the building should consist of frameless glass and transverse ring-shape lines between the aluminum plates. In addition, the glass and the aluminum plates should form up an even and level surface so that the external surface of the whole building looks smooth and clean. For this purpose, lots of manual work should be done during the manufacture of these curtain walls. Fortunately, Chinese products have competitive advantage in this regard. After a detailed study, Yuanda Group and its partner, Shanghai Yaohua Pilkington Glass Co., Ltd, cooperatively designed the split-level inter-bed double-layer glass, the appearance and cost of which perfectly meet the requirements of the owner.

The speed of the construction helped Yuanda Group to win the trust of the owner. The progress of the project is guaranteed. Three principles were proposed during the Central Government leaders’ inspection to the site of the project. The three principles include: to ensure quality, safety and progress.

The Russian Federation Tower is expected to become a sample building that can stand the examination of history.

Following these principles, Yuanda Group sought for greater perfection in each process and each detail, from manufacture to installation. The owner of the project had a high requirement for the work. In order to guarantee the quality of the project, the owner sent two famous construction supervision companies to examine the installation work of the curtain walls. Indeed, they did a careful and strict examination on the work. However the quality of the Yuanda Group helped it to win the reorganization of the supervision companies, and the precise work and capability of execution won the trust of the owner.

The success of Yuanda Group not only attracts more European contractors but helps Yuanda Group to make further inroads into the international market.
