A resident offers his fingerprint at a police station in Shanghai on May 30, 2013. The information will be recorded into his ID card. Shanghai residents will be required to have their fingerprints scanned when obtaining a new ID card starting from July 1. The move is aimed to curb counterfeiting and the false use of ID cards. Shanghai has piloted the work since Jan 1, 2013. Up to now, more than 200 police stations have already issued 10,756 new ID cards with fingerprint information. [Photo/Xinhua] |
