In my homeland it is required by law that close relatives (of first degree - like child-parents) MUST help EACH OTHER in everyday life, and this law is enforced - and if one of these close relatives has financial problems which mean that he/she cannot afford basic necessities, the other is obliged to help!

So, my future wife, and her family will be protected by this law, and I see no need for a dowry in the "traditional" sense, but taking care of family is for me also an essential universal value. As I do not have any first degree relatives - it is obvious to me that all my efforts will be directed toward my wife and "new family".
