The opening ceremony of a sports meeting, with the theme “one hour of exercise each day, health and happiness for life,” was held at the Nieer culture square, Yuxi city, Yunnan province, as part of National Fitness Day on August 8.

The sports meeting was co-organized by local authorities and the Yunnan Provincial Sports Bureau, and participating cities will hold sporting events as part of the initiative, until August 8 next year.

The opening ceremony included performances of Taijiquan, featuring thousands of participants, and also aerobics, soft power ball and taekwondo.

Members of the public took part in hikes and table tennis games, and the organizers also arranged lectures on fitness.
