New generation of carrier rocket, helicopter, unmanned aircraft, satellite, space station … Currently, the three magnates of China’s aeronautical and astronautical industry, the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASTC), and China Aerospace Science& Industry Corp. (CASIC) have launched the construction of their projects in Binhai New Area. It is anticipated that the total investment is 22.9-billion Yuan.

The representative projects of AVIC in Tianjin free trade zone’s airport industrial park are Airbus A320 general assembly line, helicopter industry base and related facilities. The Airbus A320 general assembly line located in airport industrial park is the first great undertaking of AVIC in Baihai New Area. As planned the first aircraft assembled in the general assembly line will have flight test this month, and in June it will be delivered for use. At the beginning of May, the base of helicopter industry launched construction to be finished in Aug. 2012, including the headquarters, and bases for R&D, manufacturing, marketing, and flight-test. It is planned to form an annual output capacity of 400 aircrafts.

CASTC having the new carrier rocket industrialization base as its representative project also has invested in Binhai New Area for the construction of space vehicle manufacturing and application industrial base, and unmanned aircraft and environmental-friendly equipment industrial base. The space vehicle manufacturing and application industrial base will build a relatively complete industrial chain for the development, research, experiment, and production of space vehicle series products. The unmanned aircraft and environmental-friendly equipment industrial base will carry out the research & development, production, and application of unman aircrafts, and the application and marketing of environmental-friendly techniques for the design, processing, manufacturing, installation, and debugging of desulfurizing and denitrating equipment.

In order to facilitate project construction, CASTC has newly founded 11 companies responsible for the planning and construction of the new generation of carrier rocket base, the space vehicle manufacturing and application industrial base, and the unmanned aircraft and environmental-friendly equipment industrial base.

CASIC has a project of photoelectrical and computer control system industrial base called project 668. With an area of 150-thousand square meters, the project has total investment 1-billion Yuan, anticipated to be finished in 2009. Following the construction of a series of important aeronautical and astronautical industrial projects, Binhai New Area has attracted a number of key parts & components and auxiliary enterprises of the aeronautical and astronautical industry, such as Xi’an Aircraft and Guizhou Aeroengine, forming an aeronautical manufacturing industry complete with aircraft manufacturing and maintenance, aircraft parts & components and airborne equipment processing, communication & navigation equipment, and aviation composites etc. Meanwhile the astronautical manufacturing and application industry is formed, complete with rocket manufacturing and assembly, satellite design and manufacturing, space power, and satellite broadcasting and communication etc.
