Following the development planning for the modern service industry, the biomedicine, and the wind power industry, another leading industry has been introduced by the development zone. The new development planning for the equipment manufacturing industry will focus on cultivating competitive enterprises and creating R&D bases, and plans that the output value of the equipment manufacturing industry in the development zone will reach RMB 300 billion, and the number of enterprises with output value exceeding RMB 1 billion will be increased by 50 in 2015.

At present, the equipment manufacturing industry accounts for approximately 18.2 percent of the total industrial output value of the development zone. A large number of modern electronic and machinery manufacturing enterprises such as SEW, Tong Yee, Butler, Yazaki, John Deere and Otis have joined the development zone.

According to the new industrial development planning, the development zone will create a number of superior products and competitive enterprises, realize scale agglomeration of complete equipment enterprises and core component enterprises, and develop into an important production and R&D base of the new equipment manufacturing industry in China.

According to the existing industrial basis and the prospects for future development, the development zone will focus on the development in areas of the equipment manufacturing industry such as electric power as well as energy saving and environmental protection equipment, agricultural equipment and construction machinery of a larger scale, oil drilling and petrochemical equipment, aerospace industry, machine tools and automatic control system. The equipment manufacturing industry, especially the heavy duty equipment, is characterized by large scale and heavy weight, and demands relatively high levels of production and transportation.

In order to plan the development space for the equipment manufacturing industry the development zone will therefore fully take into account the characteristics of the its products. According to the plan, by 2015, the output value of the equipment manufacturing industry in the development zone will be up to RMB 300 billion, and the number of enterprises with output value exceeding RMB 1 billion will be increased by 50.

Regarding the direction of development, on the one hand, the development zone will strengthen its relations with central enterprises and other state-owned enterprises, and build long-term development alliances with large enterprise groups. On the other hand, the development zone will further develop the environment for small and medium-sized supporting enterprises, design a layout for supporting enterprises in a more flexible manner and with a more open vision, enhance regional support, expand finance channels for enterprises, build contact channels between financial capitals such as industry funds and industrial capital, encourage enterprises to become bigger and stronger, promote enterprises to seek finance by listing favorable stock market where conditions, encourage enterprises to take advantage of Tianjin Equity Exchange and Binhai International Equity Exchange to expand direct financing channels, and build a functioning, smoothly operating security system for the safety of the workers and enhance the competitiveness of enterprises in integrated operating costs in similar areas.
