Pingyao hit top ten for most cost-effective global tourist destinations

The Ancient City of Pingyao in North China’s Shanxi province hit the top ten among the global 100 most cost-effective destinations in 2016, according to the local tourism bureau on Oct 9.

The list was based on worldwide data collected from search website youzhan.com, the Chinese version of trivago. It took over 2 million feedbacks from tourists on over 200 hotel booking websites, combined with the average prices of twin rooms in the destinations’ hotels.

Pingyao also claimed a place in the 2015 list. In the latest version, the Old Town of Phoenix in Hunan province is number one, and Dali in Yunnan province is also among the top ten, which together with Pingyao make China the country with most destinations on the list.
