Driving to Mount Wutai

Schedule:

1. Visit Shuxiang (Wenhua Bodhisattva) Temple, where the Manjusri Bodhisattva lived and preached (50 minutes); Pusa Ding (Bodhisattva Top), a temple for emperors of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), and the top lama temple (10 yuan per ticket),,and Xiantong Temple, largest temple on Wutai; then go see the giant Buddha at Lingfeng Temple; after dinner spend the night at a hotel on Wutai .

2. In the morning, go to burn incense at Wuye Temple, the most popular temple on Wutai; visit Tayuan Temple, with the big white tower (50 min, 10 yuan per ticket); after lunch, visit Fomu (Mother of Buddha) Cave, where you can cast off your old self, and experience a revival; on the way downhill visit Seven-Buddha Temple and see rites performed by monks and nuns; spend the night at a hotel on Wutai.

3. After breakfast, take Wisdom Path, with its 1080 steps, to Dailuo Ding (8 yuan per ticket), make a small pilgrimage, visit Guanghua Temple, one of five places of the Living Buddha Zhangjia; go to get wisdom water from Banruo Spring, which got its name from the Kangxi Emperor of the Qing; that afternoon return by bus and end your Buddhist cultural trip on Wutai.
