The Ancient City of Pingyao is one of the best preserved examples of a walled city in China. As an outstanding example of Chinese Han Nationality cities in the Ming and Qing dynasties, it fully reflects the city's development in culture, society, economy and religion of those periods. In 1997 it was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. An annual international photography festival is held in Pingyao, attracting large numbers of photography enthusiasts.[Photo/CRIENGLISH.com] |
