A static traffic big data platform, currently the only city-level intelligent parking platform in China, has recently gone into service in Taiyuan.
The platform applies internet of things technologies, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, building information modeling, instant messaging, radio-frequency identification and image recognition to integration of parking data gathered from different areas and different parking spots, with information exchanged between parking lots and drivers.
The platform consists of three systems targeting drivers, managers of parking lots and city administrators.
The Weaver Parking app allows drivers to easily reserve a parking space, pay for using a space, and to park a car overnight.
The Weaver parking management system provides managers of parking lots with services such as toll collection, security guarantee, and the ability to search for a particular vehicle.
The Weaver static traffic big data system allows city administrators to collect a huge range of data and conduct data analysis to better enable the efficient distribution of resources, as well as offering the authorities the tools to tackle social problems like vehicle crime.
With an investment of 50 million yuan ($7.19 million), the platform was independently developed by Shanxi Weaver Smart Science and Technology Co based in Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone.
Shanxi Weaver is committed to the research and development and application of the city static traffic big data platform, city information modeling technology and urban building big data, with the goal of easing traffic congestion.
Supported by more than 400 employees, of which 80 percent have a university education, it has established subsidiaries and R&D centers in Liverpool and Vancouver, becoming China's first company engaged in smart traffic management to expand abroad.
So far, more than 100 parking lots in Taiyuan have reached partnerships with the company to join its static traffic big data platform, which means that Taiyuan will be the first demonstration city for city static traffic big data application in China. By the end of this year, the company will offer the platform in 20 key cities across the country.
