The Gushuyuan Colliery was built by Shanxi Jincheng Anthracite Mining Group Co Ltd in 1958. However, it has been experiencing recession in recent years and was finally shut down in November 2017.
Before resource depletion, the old colliery had already taken necessary steps to assist its workers, including setting up art companies and providing coal mining services outside.
Plans to emphasize the importance of transforming areas where the old colliery was previously located are underway. Distinctive tourism projects based on its coal-mining history are currently under construction.
