Yangquan Coal Industry Group, a major coal company in Shanxi province, established Shanxi (Yangquan) International Inland Port Group with China Railway Beijing Group and Tianjin Port Group on Dec 28 to advance the development of regional logistics and transform coal industry.
Taking advantage of the operation model of an inland port, Shanxi (Yangquan) International Inland Port Group will establish new logistics models featuring efficient, ecofriendly and safe logistics services through integrating various forms of transportation; including rail, shipping and road transportation through artificial intelligence technologies.
Meanwhile, the company plans to build a modern, intelligent and international logistics network linking eastern and western parts of China, and connecting Shanxi with the Belt and Road.
"Yangquan International Inland Port Group aims to be a leading domestic logistics giant by making use of different forms of transportation and internet technology, powering the upgrading and transformation of large coal companies and facilitating Shanxi’s efforts to join the Belt and Road Initiative," said Zhai Hong, chairman of Yangquan Coal Industry Group.
Currently, the newly-founded company takes coal transportation as its major business. By 2020, it will further multimodal transportation and form a modern logistics network linking Shanxi province, Shaanxi province, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, ports on the Bohai Sea Rim, and wharfs along the Yangtze River –– with the freight volume reaching 100 million tons.
