Astana Expo witnessed the signing of a series of cooperation agreements between Shanxi and Kazakhstan during Shanxi Week at the China Pavilion from July 7 to 9.
They included a memorandum of economic cooperation between Shanxi Committee of the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Kazakhstan International Chamber of Commerce, and a memorandum of strategic cooperation between Shanxi Yishengbai Technology Co and the provincial government of North Kazakhstan.
Some tourism companies also announced their intention to cooperate with Complete Service, a leading travel agency in Kazakhstan.
Shanxi is an important industrial and new comprehensive energy base in China. It has enormous potential for cooperation with Kazakhstan due to the two countries’ comparative advantages in the energy, coal, and equipment manufacturing industries.
"We aim to make full use of the expo platform to promote cooperation between Shanxi province and Kazakhstan and other central Asian countries," said Chen Hecai, chairman of Shanxi Committee of CCPIT, in an interview.
Hanergy Holding Group, a leading thin-film solar power producer, was a highlight of Shanxi Week.
"Many of our products at the exhibition boast the world’s leading technologies," said Zhang Bin, vice-president of the company.
"We have talked with many international companies and local businesses during Shanxi Week, and see good development prospects," he added.
