Li Xiaopeng, Shanxi governor, delivered an annual report on government work at the Fifth Session of the 12th Shanxi Provincial People's Congress held in Taiyuan from Jan 27 to 31.
According to the report, Shanxi will work hard on the following ten matters in 2016: supply-side structural reform, industrial transformation, smooth economic development, work related to farmers, rural areas, agriculture, urbanization, culture, people's livelihoods, environmental protection, production safety, innovation, and government construction.

01 Promoting supply-side structural reform, accelerating industrial transformation and upgrades Shanxi will help the coal industry get out of difficulties, and at the same time develop clean energy for low-carbon and safe development.? |

02 Giving full play to factors that drive economic development in a smooth and healthy way Shanxi will achieve stable economic development by accelerating investment in key areas and projects, expanding consumption, and boosting the transformation and upgrade of foreign trade.? |

03 Doing practical and efficient work on poverty eradication Shanxi will focus on farmers, rural areas and agriculture, especially to boost modern agriculture. It will continue to implement reforms in rural areas and help all villages in the province shake off poverty. |

04 Promoting new-type of?urbanization Shanxi will continue to enhance its quality and level of urbanization, improve systems to make residents' living conditions better in both urban and rural areas, and deal with the high inventory of real estate across the province. |

05 Strengthening cultural sector Shanxi plans to build a modern public cultural service system for the cultural industry's development and prosperity. |

06 Putting efforts to people's livelihood and social undertakings Shanxi will spare no efforts in the following areas of social development: health care, social insurance, education, innovative social governance, employment, aid to Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region construction, resident's income, women, children, old-age and welfare undertakings, religious affairs, and foreign affairs. |

07 Implementing ecological progress Shanxi will emphasize ecological progress in such fields as low-carbon cycles, environmental governance, and ecological safety. |
