Several swans could be seen paddling merrily about the Yellow River wetlands, at Pinglu, Shanxi province, on Oct 28, having flown in from Siberia to winter over, about a week earlier than normal. Reserve personnel said there were 30-somewild swans in the first flight and that more will follow in the coming months. The Yellow River wetlands are in a border area with Henan province, where there is abundant vegetation and a mild climate.
