Located in Chengjia town near Qingyuan city, the Guangdong First Peak Virgin Forest scenic area is 220km from downtown Guangzhou and covers an area of about 138 square kilometers. Within this area, Shikengkong, at 1,902 meters above the sea level, is the highest peak in Guangdong and is known as the "Himalaya of Guangdong” and the “Roof of Guangdong”.

This subtropical scenic area is home to more than two thousand plant species, and boasts the largest virgin forest in Guangdong. The vast luxuriant forest with towering ancient trees, exotic flowers, rare herbs and endangered birds and animals are a feast for the eyes. The fresh air with its high content of negative oxygen ions (known for their purifying properties) is a favorite among tourists. At Tianquan Waterfall, the content of negative ions in the air is above 40,000 ions/cm3 on average, with recordings as high as 105,700 ion/cm3, the highest in the province. For this reason the area has been dubbed the “Holy Land of Negative Ions”. One of the top seven natural reserves in Guangdong, the Nanling Natural Forest Park, established with the approval of the Central Government, is the best-preserved and largest subtropical virgin forest in Guangdong, and is a provincial reserve for rare wild animals.

1. Shikengkong area: The highest peak in Guangdong--1,902 meters above the sea level. Along the mountain road, there are four scenic areas (Tianlong Water scenic area, Tianmen Gallery Sscenic area, Tianxing Bridge scenic area and Minority Village sightseeing area)

2. Hot springs area: the highest woodland hot springs in Guangdong, with more than 20 hot spring pools in various styles. The area offers health care, massages, sun baths, medicated baths and other supporting services.

3. Green tunnel and negative oxygen ion area--Tianquan Waterfall Zone: This is a dense primeval forest area with rivulets flowing all year around. There are many deep pools and waterfalls and numerous rare plants. A “natural oxygen bar”, the number of negative ions per cubic centimeter reaches 105,000 here. In the area, visitors may pick Medicinal herbs and fungi.

4. Gorge rafting area: the highest gorge rafting in Guangdong, with a total length of 5.5km and a fall of 80m. It is thrilling, exciting, and full of fun.

5. Zip wire area: Flying over the forest and gorge is a chance to challenge your fears and feel your adrenaline race. 　　

6. Gorge adventure area: This is an ideal place for people who love to explore and challenge their fitness. The mountain paths are rugged, and sometimes blocked by vines. Cliffs, dense vegetation, waterfalls and pools are your constant companions throughout your adventure. 　　

7. Campfire party area: When night falls, campfires light up the whole area. Sitting around the fires, watching the Yao folk dances, singing and dancing with Yao girls and attending a variety of games makes for an unforgettable night. 　　

8. Taipingdong Yao Village: Hidden in the heart of the mountain, the village is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of Guangdong’s cities. Here visitors can experience ancestral temples, ancient houses, the folk customs and the easiness of the way of life of the Yao people.
