The 9th Shandong high-level talents forum was held in Dezhou on October 12. The forum was held to honor the contributions of foreign experts and overseas students who came back to China to work for the development of Shandong, and to provide an opportunity for high-end talents from home and abroad to communicate with each other and negotiate about technical projects.

The forum has about 20 activities, including an award ceremony, 10 docking discussion, four summits, and four exhibitions. The forum invited about 2,000 talents and more than 500 enterprises in Shandong to take part.

At the launching ceremony, “Qilu Friendship Awards” and “Shandong entrepreneurship awards for returned overseas students” were presented.

Shandong province emphasized recruitment of its current foreign experts, and will implement more open and effective policies to attract others.

The forum has been held eight times since 2001, and has become an important platform for meeting foreign intellectuals. About 4,000 overseas students have been introduced; more than 2,500 high-tech projects have been launched; and more than 600 enterprises have been set up by returned overseas students. More than 25,000 people come to Shandong to work every year, and over 10,000 foreign experts have been living and working in Shandong for an extended period.
