A high-absorbency chitosan fiber has been developed in Qingdao. Extracted from chitosan found in crustaceans, the fiber is all natural and highly absorbable. Medical dressings processed from chitosan fibers promote healing, reduce scarring and are germ-free, hemostatic and adhesion-free. The new dressings would be desirable substitute products as they can reduce the usage of antibiotics and traditional dressing.
